Burton Kyle August will join Rice Race Prep for the 2019 FRP F1600 Championship driving the #07 Mygale.
Burton Kyle August will join Rice Race Prep for the 2019 FRP F1600 Championship driving the #07 Mygale. The 24 year old was born and raised in Rochester NY and recently graduated from LeMoyne College with a B.S. and an MBA in Business Management and Leadership. He has 7 years of high performance driving experience including racing SCCA FV and vintage Mustangs. The RRP Mygale will be sponsored by Monro Auto Service and Tire Centers. Headquartered in Rochester, NY, Monro, Inc. is a leading independently-owned and operated auto service and tire provider in the United States. The Company went public in 1991 and trades on the NASDAQ under the symbol MNRO. Monro, Inc. operates more than 1150 stores, has 98 franchised locations, 9 wholesale locations and 3 retread facilities in 28 states, serving the Mid-Atlantic and New England regions and portions of the Great Lakes, Midwest and Southeast. The RRP team has been preparing with SCCA events at Thompson, Homestead, and Sebring. The team's next and final preparation event will be at Road Atlanta in Georgia for a SCCA event in March.
The FRP F1600 Championship starts at Road Atlanta in April and will run 21 races at 7 race tracks including Watkins Glen, Mid-Ohio, PIRC, VIR, Summit Point, and NJMP. Rice Race Prep team owner, Greg Rice comments,
"This is the kind of collaboration that shows what our team is about. Kyle was going to the track with his father and raced in SCCA club racing in FV. He actually had an ex-RRP FV and was using the same 07 number, through pure coincidence. We will be announcing other drivers who have been active club-racers, and who I expect will continue to be active in our sport, with their families, for many years to come. I started in club racing as a teenager and I am supporting club racers 40 years later. That is so rewarding."
Rice Race Prep is a winning race operation based in western NY with many wins and several championships in the Eastern USA and Canada. Most recently, they had 4 FRP F1600 wins in 6 2018 starts. The team also supported Steve Bamford's 2016 Overall FRP F2000 Championship when the team won 8 of 12 starts. The RRP team has several other drivers scheduled for 2019 events and will have more driver announcements coming. They are still looking for one more driver to partner August for the entire FRP season, either in F1600 or F2000. That car will carry Susiuhl.com sponsorship. Susi Uhl Art creates quality art productions ideal for wedding, shower, or general gifting. Rice Race Prep will also be servicing other F1600 races in SCCA and in Canada. The team will be running cars at the SCCA Runoffs and can run more in F1600, F2000, or other classes. For more information, contact Greg Rice at RiceRacePrep@gmail.com
