Eastwell to Make F2000 Debut
Salem, NH – Michael Eastwell of Southampton, United Kingdom, is poised to make his F2000 Championship Series debut this weekend, driving for Tumenas Motorsports at New Jersey Motorsports Park in the season finale.
Eastwell, 22 years old, most recently competed in Formula Ford UK.
Recent successes have included two wins at Silverstone, a race win at Castle Combe Circuit. He was twice a winner of the Champion of Brands, and a winner of the Bert Ray Memorial Trophy at Brands Hatch.
“Following a great test at Palmer Motorsports Park last month, I’m very excited to have the opportunity to race with Tumenas Motorsport for the final two rounds at New Jersey Motorsports Park,” said Eastwell.”
“I’ve had a day to acclimatise myself to the car, so I’m hoping I feel relatively comfortable when I jump back in on the Friday morning,” he added.
This will hopefully enable me to get straight into learning the track and allow me to work with the team on any setup adjustments (if needed). The most prominent difference between the Formula Ford I currently race and the F2000, is grip. I’ve got used to driving with no aero and very little grip in the Ford, the cars are pretty loose, so it’s a nice progressive step to make,” he continued.
“Realistically, being my first race in the category and my first international car race, I’m not totally sure what to expect. All I can say is, I felt great in the car during the test in August, and I’m an extremely competitive individual, so I will be looking to be somewhere towards the front.”
