Formula Race Promotions Pushes Over 100 Entries for Mid-Ohio Event
With the first event at Carolina Motorsports Park (CMP) now in their rear-view mirror, the Formula Race Promotions (FRP) staff is fully focused on next week’s races. Taking place at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio April 30-May 2, entry numbers have pushed over triple digits, and everyone is looking forward to a busy, competitive and fun weekend.
“With more and more people get vaccinated on a daily basis, the entry numbers in motorsports continue to rise, hopefully signaling an end to the Covid-19 issues that we have been having for more than a year now,” explained Bob Wright. “It is great to see more and more people coming to events and while it is great for FRP, it is also good for motorsports in general as well as regaining some sense of normalcy. We still have a bit to go, but the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter.”
With sporting events being greatly affected by the pandemic, motorsports took a major hit with no spectators, fans and limited crews allowed at most events. With stay-at-home orders, gathering size orders, state’s reentry quarantine rules and more, 2020 was a tough year for all, but the end is now in sight.
Wright continued, “Of course we all need to practice the guidelines set forth by the local states and CDC, but the upward trend that we are experiencing, the site of fans at sporting events and the increased entertainment events happening throughout the country is promising. With our entries continuing to rise each and every day, Mid-Ohio could be one of our biggest events in the past 18 months and we can’t wait to see where we end up.”
With all of the run groups filling out nicely, the largest field at this point in time is the F1600 category with 25+ drivers expected. Always providing some of the closest and most competitive races over the weekend, often with a photo finish, Mid-Ohio should be no exception.
“We have several drivers that race with us on a regular basis as well as some new names on the entry list for next week,” added Clay Hutchison. “We urge everyone to pre-enter by visiting our website to save time and money at the track.”
“On the entry list for next week we have our core group of stalwart drivers, a whole group of drivers/teams we haven’t seen in a while, as well as many new and welcome names,” added Hutchison. “It will be a busy and fun weekend.”
