Formula Race Promotions Reschedules Postponed Event at Barber Motorsports Park
“Multi-series program will race alongside F4 and FR Series in Alabama”
With the much-anticipated start of the 2020 Formula Race Promotions (FRP) campaign just over one month away, series officials continue to put plans in place to replace postponed events due to COVID-19. Originally scheduled to take place at Barber Motorsports Park May 15th – 17th, the FRP program will now join SCCA Pro Racing at Barber July 31st – August 2nd. This will be a full and exciting weekend of racing, as FRP’s Atlantic; Prototype; NA F1000; F2000 & F1600 Championships and SCCA Pro’s F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda and FR Americas Championship Powered by Honda will all be racing at the challenging Leeds,Alabama facility.
“We are excited and anxious to get on track and run our 2020 season,” explained Bob Wright. “With our series kicking off in June, we are thankful that our friends at the SCCA and Barber Motorsports Park were able to accommodate us on their already scheduled weekend. It will be a jam-packed schedule but promises to be a truly exciting weekend at a great facility. Understanding we will need to follow the local and state government guidelines as well as the rules put forth by the facility, operations will be a bit different, but we’ll take it in order to get back to racing.”
With the first two rounds of the series, Road Atlanta and Barber Motorsports Park, postponed due to the worldwide pandemic, FRP Officials are still working on a replacement day for the Braselton, Georgia event.
Wright continued, “We have been working diligently, but as everyone understands, this is a very fluid time, and all racing programs are scrambling in this still uncertain time. Our goal has always been to run a full season and that is what we are working towards. On behalf of the complete FRP program, I thank each and every team, competitor, officials and everyone involved for their help, support and patience as we move forward.”
