FRP Heads to the Upper East Coast and New Jersey Motorsports Park This Weekend
It’s the penultimate round of the 2024 Formula Race Promotions program as teams and competitors will head to the Upper East Coast this weekend. Taking on the New Jersey Motorsports Park, the key event could make or break some championship hopes as drivers aim to finish their campaign strong. With F1600, F2000, and Atlantics in competition, NJMP will be the host to some intense wheel-to-wheel racing as the season nears the final checkered flag.
“It’s hard to believe that the season is nearing completion, but as we look to award hardware to our race winners at the final two events and crown champions, we are also working hard on next year,” explained FRP’s Bob Wright. “We know how important our program is to launching careers, and I have no doubt that we will see some of the 2024 competitors at the highest level of motorsports in just a few short years.”
Entering the weekend with heavy hearts due to the recent loss of Rice Race Prep’s Greg Rice, it will be a somber experience as the paddock will miss one of the greats.
Wright added, “Greg was a fixture in the FRP paddock for years and progressed drivers through his program. He was a championship team owner and provided opportunities for many. He will be missed, and this weekend will be in memory of him.”
With an optional test day offered by the track on Thursday, the official competition will get underway on Friday with one practice session for each class. Saturday will see practice two, qualifying, and race one of the weekend while Sunday will see races two and three for F1600 and race two for F2000 and Atlantic.
