Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing driver Matias Köykkä picked up his second win of the F1600 Formula F Championship Series with his victory in Race 1 at Lime Rock Park, May 26.

After claiming the pole in the No. 10 Honda Spectrum, Köykkä lead all 30-laps to pick up his second victory in three races.

The first race went according to our plan,” the young Finnish driver said. “I was able to create a gap between myself and other cars, and after that, it was basically all about maintaining the pace.”

Köykkä had the fastest lap in the race, which put him on the pole for Race 2. Unfortunately, the results were not as good in the afternoon race.

While battling for the second-place position, an incident with Art Foster on the last lap of the race regulated Köykkä to a disappointing ninth-place finish.

“We were happy with Matias’s performance,” team owner Dominic Cape said. “Obviously we were disappointed with what happened at the end of Race 2, but we will get move on from that and prepare for New Jersey.”

Köykkä and the team will next be on track June 29-July 1 at New Jersey Motorsports Par for rounds 5 and 6. For more information on the series, please visit www.f1600series.com. You can follow the team on Facebook and Twitter (CMwithWTR) for updates.
