Minor Sweeps at Summit Point

August 26, 2018

Summit Point, WV – In his first appearance of the 2018 F2000 Championship Series season, Tim Minor swept the competition at Summit Point, taking the Sunday win to make it two wins in two days. The two-time Series Champion demolished the track record in qualifying and led every lap from pole to take the victory in round 12 of the season, in an all green flag race. Brandon Dixon finished second while Simon Sikes completed the top three and took the final podium spot. Points leader Steve Jenks finished sixth.

Quotes:

Minor: “It’s never easy. We started this weekend off with a broken clutch in the first session. We got it fixed before the second session. I hadn’t been in the car since April and I thought I was on pace. Then this morning in qualifying, it was quite interesting. If you were a hundredth off you were third. I can’t thank my crew enough, Ian and Tim. Hoosier Tire brought a great tire here.”

Dixon: “We’re still recovering from our crash at Pittsburgh and getting whatever little gremlins remained out of the car. I’m fairly happy with today. We show up at Tim’s house and you can’t expect to blow his doors off here. I was close, but not quite.”

Sikes: “They are fast. It was a tough fight even though I was in clean air. I had Tim Paul behind me and he was fast. I can’t thank Primus enough for putting a great car together. It’s nice to be able to collect some points.”
