New Track Record at Pittsburgh and Pole for Keith Grant

July 29, 2017

Wampum, PA - With a lap of 1:31.031, Keith Grant is the new overall track record holder at Pittsburgh International Race Complex, with the fastest lap ever completed around the 19-turn 2.8-mile course. The lap, set during Saturday morning qualifying, also vaulted Grant's No. 40 Polestar Swift 016/Mazda to the pole for the ninth round of the 2017 Atlantic Championship Series.

"I figured the track would be faster as it's smoother," said Grant. "We had good air today. I ran behind David a bit. I'm quicker in a few places and he is quicker in a few places, we're not driving exactly the same. It's going to be a close, good race."

It is the No. 40's first pole since Mid-Ohio in May.

David Grant qualified second, two hundredths off the pole position.

Championship points leader Peter Portante had a mechanical problem that limited his running and saw the No. 24 driver qualify third. Full results.
