O’Connor Wins by .060 Seconds

“I didn’t have a plan. You just kind of play it by ear and see what happens in F1600 racing,” said O’Connor in victory circle. “I can’t believe it worked out. Thanks to K-Hill; we had some damage yesterday and the balance of the car was off and they worked early into the morning to get the car set up. It was on rails. I’m racing against two of the best young drivers in the world in Dario and Braden. I kind of got lucky getting past Dario on the last lap and then made a move on Braden.”

Eves would be denied his second win in two starts on his F1600 Series debut for Rice Race Prep, despite leading the most laps.

“I think we had better pace than anyone in this race. I led and had started to break the draft with a second lead. I made a slight mistake and gave it up. It was a close race,” Eves explained. “I thought I had Tyler going into the last corner and he just went in. I had to swerve out of the way or else we would have crashed. It was a close race, and good job to Tyler for the win,” said Eves, driving the No. 6 entry for Rice Race Prep.”

After last lap drama dropped him through the order in Saturday’s race, Cangialosi finished third for K-Hill Motorsports, aiding his slim but manageable Championship lead with just seven races remaining.  

Yuven Sundaramoorthy finished fourth for K-Hill, ahead of Christan Lall Dass and his Piper/Ford who founded out the top five ahead of Ryan Bjerke and Baylor Griffin in sixth and seventh. They were followed by Chris Horan and Chris Kierce, in eighth and ninth.

And for the second straight race, Scott Rubenzer took top honors in the Masters Class with a 10th place finish.

F1600 competitors next head to the track for round 15 of the 2018 season, scheduled for Sunday afternoon at Pittsburgh International Race Complex.
