Palacio Takes Pole at Summit Point!

August 24, 2019

Nick Palacio will start on pole for race one in track conditions that improved every lap right up until the checker flag flew!

Entering the Summit Point weekend, Brandon Dixon comfortably holds the championship lead. His lead is nearly one hundred points over second place Steve Jenks. Peter Gonzalez and Bob Wright are third and fourth respectively, and the race between the two remains tight.

As the session started, the track conditions were not ideal. From the get go, it was the local, Nick Palacio to show is speed. After solid runs at VIR and Pitt Race, Palacio was able to use his home track to his advantage. After fifteen hard laps in conditions that saw the track times lowered nearly every single lap, Palacio secured the pole position. Steve Jenks will start second in race one, he’s just a tenth of a second of Palacio. Another local, Chas Shaffer, finished out the podium and was less than a tenth off of Jenks. Bob Wright came will start fourth in race one, and he has a notable advantage over Gonzalez, who never able to find the pace, and as a result will start well down the order. The fifth place starting position is occupied by Megan Gilkes, who is a W Series race winner.
