Sundaramoorthy Wins at Mid-Ohio in Round 11
Lexington, OH – Yuven Sundaramoorthy scored the win at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in the second of three F1600 Championship Series races of the weekend for K-Hill Motorsports. Another all-green-flag race came down to again to the final moments with Sundaramoorthy beating out teammate Dario Cangialosi to the checkered flag by .143 seconds as Joe Colasacco finished a strong third place to take the Masters Class win for Auriana Racing.
Sundaramoorthy said: “I was trying the same strategy as yesterday to hold the lead. There was a mix up on one of the laps so I was able to get a gap. Dario ended up catching up to me and it was a two car battle for the lead. I tried to learn from my mistakes yesterday and capitalize on it.”
Cangialosi noted: “It was a good race today. I didn’t have the pace to get in front of him, I had a good move on him on the last lap but he took the inside and there was nothing I could do.”
Colasacco added: “That was a clean race. I was able to stay with the pack of kids up front. I found myself in fourth, moved up to third, and it got a bit dicey there at the end.”
Baylor Griffin finished fourth while Dexter Czuba completed the top five ahead of Joel Haas, Ryan Bjerke, Jeffrey Bartz, Tyler O’Connor and Charles Anti.
Of note, after running in the lead early, Christian Lall Dass retired following contact, which also dropped O’Connor down the order.
Joel Haas and Mike Scanlan completed the Masters Class podium.
Round 12 of the Mid-Ohio weekend closes out F1600’s tripleheader event from the Buckeye State, and is scheduled for late Sunday afternoon, as the 21-race season races past its midpoint.
