UPDATE REGARDING THE 2019 Atlantic Championship Series
The FRP Atlantic Series Champion(s) will be determined by the best point total from the following 4 events with NO drops. (This was previously relayed to all potential Atlantic Competitors and teams).
Road Atlanta, April 18-20
Watkins Glen, May 10-12
VIR, July 26-28
PIRC, August 2-4
This is a result of overwhelming feedback to drop the number of events from 7 to 4. The race format will be the same as previous years with two 30min practice sessions, two 20min qualifying sessions and two 40min races during the course of the weekend. There will be no drops; all eight races count towards the championship. The structure of a Master’s Championship will be based on the makeup of entries.
The FULL Atlantic Championship Series Run Group will be hosted by FRP to include the additional 2 events of Mid-Ohio: June 28-30, and Summit Point: Aug 23-25.
A special Hoosier Cup Championship, recognizing the top three finishers, based upon the best point total from those competitors competing in ALL 6 events, (but allowing a two race point drop), will be held.
The special Hoosier Cup Championship is the result of interest by Atlantic competitors to have the opportunity to run more than the primary 4 events, and by the substantial support of Hoosier Racing Tire, whose support is instrumental in providing the quality racing opportunity for all competitors who race with FRP.
NEW in 2019: In Support of the Atlantic Championship Series, the North American Formula 1000 Championship will be running within the FRP Atlantic run group during all 6 events. Bringing an additional racing class into the Atlantic Championship Series is an ideal fit. Atlantic and
F1000 are far enough apart in speed to allow two independent races within one session. In a majority of cases the classes may never interfere with each other on the race track.
Entry Fees: For the 4 event series, the entry fee is $6,600. For those competing in the 4 event series, the add on entry fee for Mid-Ohio and Summit Point will be $1,650 each event. Single Event Entries will be accepted at $2,200 per weekend.
These prices will be in effect through the early season registration date of February 28th. Registration will be open by February 1.
