New York, NY – Defending F1600 Formula F Championship Series title holder Bill Valet will be back in the No. 83 Swift/Ford at Lime Rock Park for rounds three and four of the 2012 Championship over Memorial Day weekend. Valet triumphed on Lime Rock in 2011, and hopes to defend his race win.
Although the team had planned to take the year off for personal and professional reasons, Valet explained the change of heart: “We felt really bad not being able to defend the title this year and more importantly it hurt us not to be able to continue to support the Series. The Series is the best thing to happen to Formula F in decades and we think it is really important that everyone continue to support the Series as much as they can. So while even doing this one race will cause some serious hardships for us this year, we felt it was important to show our support for the Series and come out and race at Lime Rock.”
Valet admitted it was killing him sitting at home. “It will be interesting to see how we stack up against the new drivers and it will also be good to see all our old friends in the paddock.”
Valet will be driving his championship winning No. 83 Swift DB-6 with Ford power.
The car will once again be engineered by Jim Little and Harry Martin of Drivers Services on Long Island.
“The new kids on the block sure have impressive resumes,” added Valet, “so they won't be lacking for speed. If they can keep mistakes to a minimum they should do very well this season. I’m excited for the series to have such a talented group of F1600 drivers again this year. I said it last year and I'll say it again this year. Finishing in the top ten in this series is tough to do and quite an accomplishment.”
